What we write about
We cover dogs and cats only: food and plant safety, symptoms, urgency, medications (information only), vet costs and pet insurance. We pick topics from the questions owners actually search for and from seasonal risks.
Sources we accept
Every verdict, dose threshold, price and statistic must come from a named, reputable source: the Merck Veterinary Manual, the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center, the AVMA, AAHA, university veterinary colleges, VCA Animal Hospitals, peer-reviewed journals, or government data. Sources are numbered on each page with links.
If we can't verify it, we don't publish it
Values we haven't confirmed are marked internally as unverified, and a page with any unverified value stays unpublished. We never estimate or round a number to fill a gap, and we never invent reviewers, testimonials or statistics.
How we write
Answer first: the opening 40–60 words of every page answer the question directly. We write in plain English for a worried reader, keep paragraphs short, and never tell readers to skip the vet or to make a pet vomit at home.
Updates
Health pages are re-checked at least every 12 months and cost pages every 6 months. Each page shows when it was last reviewed. Prices always carry their year.
